2015 Year's End - Notes of Reflection

A Note of Reflection

January 18, 2016January 18, 2016 Channel Islands (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
Check donations cic 2015 Schools On Wheels
Channel Islands (CA) Chapter President, Suzanne Fussell MD and Fundraiser Committee Co-Chairmen presenting a donation check in the amount of $1000.00 to the Schools on Wheel foundation representative.

As we start the New Year, the Channel Islands (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated would like to thank everyone that supported our programs and philanthropic endeavors.  Your support allowed us to provide four scholarships for college bound students, donate to the Schools On Wheels, and adopt a family for the holiday and provide them with presents for a cheerful Christmas. Whether it is through donations, fundraising and/or volunteering we could not achieve these goals without our community’s involvement.

Adopted family 2015 CIC holiday donations
Channel Islands (CA) Chapter donated Christmas presents for their adopted family through the Coalition For Family Harmony | Building Stronger Families.

The Links, Incorporated is a volunteer based organization. Our chapter members spend endless hours working as a team including meeting with community leaders to ensure that we meet our goal of implementing our signature program and various events surrounding the organization’s five facets. Thank you for all that you did to make our 14th Annual Youth Summit – Dare to Dream with STEAM a very successful event.

With over 100 students in attendance our last Youth Summit brought together educators, community organizations, community leaders, elected officials, and local businesses with the sole purpose to engage and excite a diverse group of boys and girls in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and The Arts.)

In closing we would like to highlight two of our other well-received events. We co-hosted a forum on Human Trafficking with the Ventura County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. As a community we must shine a light on this underreported crime to help our youth not become unassuming victims.

Finally, thank you joining us in July at our 2015 Inaugural Women of Distinction Fundraiser Gala. This event recognized inspirational women making monumental contributions impacting various communities within California.

We are forever grateful for the overwhelming support received by those within our servicing area, the Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

  Sincerely,

Suzanne Fussell, MD                                                                                                                             President, Channel Islands (CA) Chapter                                                                                             The Links, Incorporated
