February – Heart Health Recognition Month

CIC 2016 Recognizing Heart healthThe Channel Islands (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated supporting our organization’s national campaign and promoting awareness about The Heart Truth™.

This national campaign is aimed to increase women’s awareness of heart disease and its dangers. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among African American and Hispanic women. Women of color also have high rates of the major risk factors for this disease including obesity, physical inactivity and high blood pressure. As a partner of The Heart Truth, we are working to spread the message of heart disease prevention to the communities we serve. The Heart Truth, the creators of the Red Dress and the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness, is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

The Links, Incorporated supports specific organizations and seeks to expand their positive impact within our communities across the nation and abroad.
